Ravindra Jadeja Becomes No.1 Test All-Rounder On ICC Rankings

India’s Ravindra Jadeja has moved up to the top spot in the ICC All-Round Tests rankings after his winning performance against Sri Lanka in the first test at Mohali. Jadeja replaced Jason Holder of the West Indies to grab the top spot. It’s no surprise that Jadeja topped the overall standings, as he has before, and his move to number one comes as no surprise after a stunning display in the series opener against Sri Lanka.

The Indian all-rounder was voted Player of the Match for scoring a sublime unbeaten 175 in the opening innings to help India to a formidable 574/8 declared.

He continued his five-wicket run with a four-figure score in Sri Lanka’s opening innings and also had excellent second innings, collecting 4/46. Ravindra Jadeja 175* was the highest score by an Indian batter at No. 7 or less in Test cricket, bettering Kapil Dev’s long-standing record.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin continued his all-round performance with an excellent display in the Mohali Test, remaining on third behind Holder. Ashwin and Jadeja put up a partnership of 130 runs which turned out to be India’s best of the innings.

Imam-ul-Haq scored two centuries in the first Test against Australia, moving up to 63rd in the world rankings with 477 points.

Azhar Ali scored 185 in the second innings, moving up ten places to 12th on the batting rating list. Abdullah Shafique added a second-innings century to gain 27 places and move up 67 spots on the list. Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne missed out on a century, being dismissed for 90 in his final innings of the game, but that was enough to gain a point and move up 936 spots and 12th place on his batting rating list.

Usman Khawaja’s career has been marked by falls and rises. He first rose to prominence in the 1990s, but fell out of favour in the 2000s. However, he has rebounded strongly in recent years, moving up six places to 24th place with the bat.
