CM Uddhav Thackeray’s personal secretary Milind Narvekar recently received a threatening WhatsApp message warning him of a probe against him by CBI, ED, NIA, or other central government agency.

New Delhi: Personal Secretary to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray Milind Narvekar recently received a threatening message on WhatsApp warning him of an investigation against him by agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate, and the National Investigations Agency.

A senior official on condition of anonymity said Narvekar received a WhatsApp message from an unknown phone number that made some requests. He threatened that if Narvekar did not meet the requirements, an investigation would be carried out against him by the CBI, ED, NIA or some other central government agency and he would be involved.

According to sources, Narvekar complained about the matter to Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale, after which the case was referred to the Mumbai Crime Directorate for investigation.

Investigators suspect that the WhatsApp number used to send the threat message must be a virtual number used through an app. Sources said authorities asked the mobile phone company for information on the number. Efforts are being made to uncover the culprit behind this.

Various MVA leaders have previously mentioned that rival political parties often use the name central agencies to threaten people in key government positions.

Earlier Thursday, the crime branch’s anti-extortion cell arrested three people. The Accused, disguised as President of the Nationalist Congress Party, Sharad Pawar, allegedly called Ashish Kumar Singh, additional chief secretary of the CM of Maharashtra and spoke of a transfer.
