Man Who Assaulted Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Admitted To Hospital For Psychiatric Treatment

According to a senior police officer, the man who attacked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar two days ago has been taken to a hospital for psychiatric treatment.

The attacker was taken to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), the state’s largest public healthcare institution, according to Manavjeet Singh Dhillon, Senior Superintendent of Police in Patna.

“We conducted a thorough investigation. The attacker and none of his family members have a criminal record. He was examined at a community health centre first, as instructed, and is now undergoing psychological profiling at the PMCH by specialists in the field “PTI quoted Dhillon in its report.

On Sunday, a 32-year-old man attacked the chief minister in Bakhtiyarpur, on the outskirts of the city, but was quickly apprehended by security personnel on the scene.

The CM Nitish Kumar immediately instructed the security guards not to beat up the assailant, but rather to try to figure out what was wrong with him.

Following that, the district government issued a statement revealing that the attacker was a local resident who had attempted suicide twice and whose wife had been forced to live away from their children due to his mental illness.

According to the government, the CM also directed that “no disciplinary action” be taken against the attacker and that his psychological recovery be facilitated.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav claimed that the “security failure” was symptomatic of a larger breakdown in law and order.

“It is undeniably a heinous episode. But imagine how secure a common man can feel when the chief minister is not secure “Yadav made a sarcastic remark.
