Puri: Lord Jagannath Temple to Remain Closed Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases throughout Odisha, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Saturday decided to suspend the entry of devotees into the 12th-century temple until May 15. However, the daily practice of the trinity- Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath – will continue to be assisted by temple guards and temple officials, said SJTA chief executive Krishan Kumar after leading a meeting attended by representatives of the temple staff, Puri district collector and police chief, and other participants.
It was also decided that all arrangements for the construction of the vehicles would proceed according to each custom.

“The biggest challenge posed by COVID-19 is being discussed in detail. We all had the same view that the necessary steps should be taken to ensure the continuation of the Niti-Kanti of Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannath, ”said Kumar.
The decision was also made to conduct regular inspections and inspections on the families of workers and temple officials.
