Etharkkum Thunindhavan Movie: Review, Song, Cast, Trailer, Release Date – All You Need To Know About Suriya’s Action-Thriller!

Etharkkum Thunindhavan is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Pandiraj and produced by Sun Pictures. The film stars Suriya, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Vinay Rai and music composed by D. Imman, with cinematography and editing handled by R. Rathnavelu and Ruben respectively.

The project, titled Suriya 40, was officially announced in October 2020. It is the production’s first venture with Suriya and marks the actor’s return to the business after distributing his films Ayan (2009) and Singam (2010). Filming began on February 15, 2021 and wrapped in mid-November. Despite losing three months of filming due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, it was mostly shot at various locations in Chennai, Madurai, Karaikudi and Courtallam with a song sequence shot in Goa.

The film is scheduled to release in Theaters on 10 March 2022. It will be released in dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages.

In Suriya plays a lawyer who stays on the side of fairness and protects the people beyond reproach. He is the beloved son of his parents Aadhirayar (Sathyaraj) and Kosalai (Saranya Ponvannan). Also, according to Aadhini (a beautiful Priyankaa Arul Mohan), her love interest, he is like Murugan. In short, it’s more or less an avatar, and without forcing too much. Director Pandiraj lays out his hero’s legend with Kannabiran attempting to save the nobility of ladies.

The obnoxious man doing the “undressing” here is Inba (Vinay Rai, picking up from the last known breakpoint in Doctor), the son of a central minister. Inba and his team exploit distraught young women for love and shoot clips of them in physically compromising positions, and later use the videos to extort the people in question, an unmistakable implication in Pollachi’s rape cases. When Kannabiran saves Yazhnila, Aadhini’s friend, Inba chooses to focus on the lawyer and threatens to leak hidden clips of 500 women if he doesn’t give up Yazh.
At the level of the plot, Etharkkum Thunindhavan essentially advances on lines without surprises. Yet, as he did with his films like Vamsam and Kadaikutty Singam, Pandiraj grounds the characters with very specific backgrounds, which lends a certain freshness. Like the setting in which the film takes place. Kannabiran lives in Thennaadu, a village that appreciates women. Inba lives in the nearby town of Vadanaadu, whose men married the damsels of Thennaadu. Still, there has been some rivalry between the two towns since the suicide of a Thennaadu woman who had been married to a Vadanaadu guy.

The director uses it deftly to inject some tension and humor into the feeling between Kannabiran and Aadhini, who is from Vadanaadu. Some of the humor works, thanks to Devadarshini, who plays Aadhini’s mother, Anjumani. Still, the bundle of must-have comics for the cast is a setback. Indeed, even Soori, who for the most part sparkles in this director’s films, isn’t exactly entertaining. However, the director’s attempt to balance the “family” scenes with the more serious parts leads to an uneven tone that is sometimes very jarring.
In any case, what concerns this non-exclusive masala film is its dynamic point of view. It’s certainly great to see a star vehicle that delivers the right message, especially when it comes to female empowerment. Like Ajith in Nerkonda Paarvai, Suriya, who is charming and serious, uses his stature very well in these portions. A scene between Kannabiran and Aadhini about the “shame” involved in hidden camera videos is aptly written (“Verum udambu aabaasamaanadhilla…Avanga vakkara budhiya vida aabaasamaanadhilla”)
The film is also aware of the dullness of vigilantism and extra-legal killings. It shows us Kannabiran using the legal route to obtain justice and taking the law into his own hands when all the doors are closed.

Etharkkum Thunindhavan- My honest review:

#Must watch film for Director Pandiraj fans. It's completely different from his preivous ventures which were about family sentiments, farming and emotional subjects. The rating- U/A is apt.

For me, this is the second film that I watch in a big theatre, following Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in 2017. Surya sir in a different avatar as Advocate Kannabiran(although he appeared in Jai Bhim as a lawyer). He looks menacing and terrifying. The first scene is a goosebump🔥🔥. The bgm was outstanding by D.Imman. Priyanka Arul Mohan as Kannabiran's wife Aadhini is ok. Soori and Pugazh does some comedy scenes, which is quite okayish. The action sequences are the main highlights in this film. Story is fluently inspired from Pollachi 2019 Sexual assault, that's evident in each and every scenes. The police inspector character, MLA character and villains are from Pollachi gang.

A lesson for those, who ill-treat and consider women for their sexual desires. Films like these must come out in these period of times, nevertheless of who produced it and who acted in it. The first half was quite lagging and second half was serious and terrifying.

The climax scene gives you goosebumps as Surya sir roars with his amazing dialogues. The film additionally have the main highlighting scenes in the second half. Naa Coat potta judge vera. Aana vetti kattunaa naan dhaan da Judge uh. This dialogue gave me an electric shock🔥💓

My rating: 10/10. Go and watch it with a popcorn in your hands.

SURIYA-PANDIRAJ WATCHABLE COMBO...SAMMA PADAM.

The story is all about "WOMEN ATROCITY" & 2.5hrs movie was very engaging and interesting to watch as the screenplay was well executed.

On one hand, movie able to show the content but on the other hand it also added the elements of entertainment.

Action well choreographed. Songs were good especially the intro song was fabulous. Suriya presence on that intro song was a different level.

Suriya acting reminded us of his role in JAI BHIM.

Vinay Rai, perfect antagonist for this film.

Priyanka Arul, Soori, Sathya raj done good performance

Overall a watchable movie with the family as it has entertainment but a message which is very well required to our society and to our law

I usually don't write reviews. But after seeing some negative reviews, i felt that someone must step up to support good movies. Don't get fooled by 1 or 2 negative reviews. The movie is really good. I'm so happy that surya is finally getting good movies. Time for a major comeback for surya. A must watch movie with a strong message for the public. Go see it in theatre, instead of your 6 inch screen and you can thank me later😉.
