The federal government on Monday said that due to the current Covid-19 situation in the country, domestic aviation operations would be limited to 80 percent of last year’s summer program.

On March 19, the federal government announced that all airlines would have to limit their capacity to 80 percent of the pre-Covid capacity because the number of passengers had dropped due to Covid-related restrictions.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri wrote on Twitter that there had been a decline in the number of passengers as some provinces imposed restrictions such as compulsory RT-PCR testing due to rehabilitation in coronavirus cases. Domestic flight 80% capacity

“Over the past few days there has been a marked decrease in the number of passengers due to restrictions and compulsory testing of RT-PCR by various provinces. As a result we have decided to keep the limit within 80 percent of the schedule,” Puri had said.

The government had increased its revenue from 70 percent to 80 percent in December last year as India’s Covid-19 cases began to decline.

On Thursday, India reported 3.52 new lakh Covid-19 cases (daily number higher than any other country) and 2,812 deaths.
