Kolkata: West Bengal Prime Minister Mamta Banerjee reviewed disaster preparedness prepared for Saturday (May 22) in the wake of the impending Yaas storm this afternoon with all senior Central & State officials and DMs & SPs. The NDRF, ICG, NCMC and the Indian Army have also begun work to ensure that no deaths occur when the storm falls. Cyclone Yaas

The prime minister has taken to Twitter to assure state officials that appropriate measures will be taken to protect the lives of those at risk of the Yaas-free hurricane.

Cyclone Yaas- CM Mamata Banerjee said, “I have thoroughly reviewed the Disaster Preparedness in the wake of the imminent Yaas storm this afternoon with all senior officials of the relevant Central & State agencies and DMs & SPs.”

“All authorities have been advised to coordinate, plan and evacuate coastal and riverine areas to rescue shelters including hurricanes and floodplains, and to provide early relief and rehabilitation services,” he added.
