Cyclone Yaas Warning: IMD has advised fishermen not to hunt in the open sea in the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea from May 21 to 27.

New Delhi: With another hurricane raging in the North Andaman Sea-East Central Bay of Bengal, India’s Department of Environment on Thursday renewed its forecast that the weather forecast would now hit the Odisha-West Bengal coast on May 26 (Wednesday) morning. According to the latest IMD update, the storm is likely to hit the earth on the evening of May 26.

“The low-lying area is likely to form above the North Andaman Sea and meet the East Central Bay of Bengal on May 22. It is more likely to have a severe storm on May 24. It is more likely to move northwest and reach Odisha -I “West Bengal is on the coast about May 26 morning,” the IMD said in a statement.

The IMD has said the area of ​​low pressure is likely to grow into Depression by May 23rd.

According to the weather department, light to moderate rainfall is likely to be seen in the coastal regions of West Bengal starting on May 25.

“Low levels of rainfall in many areas with strong waterfalls in isolated areas are likely to begin in the coastal regions of West Bengal from May 25 with further increase in area and greater expansion in the Gangetic West Bengal regions,” the forecast said.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to attempt to enter the open sea from May 21 to 27.

“The sea conditions will be very sour at the Andaman Sea and merge with East Central Bay of Bengal on May 23, rising to the highest in Central Bay of Bengal on May 24-26 to North Bay of Bengal and continuing and closed Odisha – West Bengal on the beach on May 25-27, ”says IMD.

“Fishermen are advised not to enter southeast of Bengal and south of the Andaman Sea from May 21 onwards, to the center of Bay of Bengal from May 23-25 ​​May and north to the Bay of Bengal and along the coast and West of Bengal – Odisha – Bangladesh from May 24–27. Those outside the Deep Sea are advised to return to the coast on May 23, ”he added.

In West Bengal, the government has advised all regional magistrates to take immediate action in view of the impending storm. In addition, the control chambers will be operational by the government from Friday.

At a meeting held yesterday, Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee instructed senior government officials to make arrangements for adequate stockpiles, drinking water, dry food and sails.

“All island areas and shelters have been requested to be rehabilitated. Regional magistrates have been instructed to take all precautionary measures after warnings,” the official said.
