The Supreme Court will hear a plea from students on Monday asking the CBSE and CISCE for instructions on conducting the semester 1 board exams in hybrid mode, giving students the choice of whether to take an online or offline exam. . Both boards are all configured to take the first trimester exams in offline mode.

The Central Council for Secondary Education (CBSE) will begin board exams on Tuesday, November 16. The examinations of the Council for Indian School Certificate Exams (CISCE) would start on November 22.

The plea, filed by attorney Sumanth Nookala, said the ensuing reviews would be conducted in hybrid mode with an option to choose between an offline review and an online review.

“Consent is important because examinations are directly linked to the mental health of applicants, requiring an enabling and voluntary atmosphere to ensure a fair assessment. It is common knowledge that the third wave of the COVID pandemic is predicted, ”the plea said.

“Even though the respondents (counsel and others) wanted to conduct the reviews on said dates, they had sufficient time and resources to plan it carefully and address the concerns raised in this petition,” he said, adding that the current proposed system of offline exam is “fraught with poor planning and lack of mind enforcement” which will further harm students.Meanwhile, even as the Delhi government ordered schools to remain closed until November 20, the CBSE said board exams will be held according to schedule.
