Article 370 repeal ‘revamp’: BJP attacks Congress over Digvijaya Singh comments on clubhouse chat

BJP is attacking Digvijaya Singh for saying that the Congress party would have a “relook” at the abrogation of Article 370 if voted to power at the centre.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party hogs Congress because of a statement made by Digvijaya Singh during a discussion at the Clubhouse in which the veteran leader spoke about the Section 370 issue.

The BJP attacks Digvijaya Singh for saying that the Congress party would “look” at repealing Section 370 if elected to power in the center.

BJP IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya shared the audio clip where Digvijaya Singh can be heard saying, “Democracy was not there in Kashmir when they revoked Article 370. Then Insaaniyat did was not there because they put everyone behind bars and Kashmir is something that is fundamentally the fundamentals of secularism because in a predominantly Muslim state there was a Hindu Raja and the two worked together. in fact, the reserve in Kashmir was given to Kashmiri pandits in government services ”.

“Therefore, the decision to revoke Section 370 and reduce the statehood of J&K is extremely, I would say, a sad decision and the Congress Party would certainly like to revisit this matter,” added Digvijaya Singh.

BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra levelled several allegations at the opposition party, terming Congress as a “clubhouse of Anti-nationals”.

Addressing a press conference on the subject, BJP leader Sambit Patra asked, “What do Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi think of the Digvijaya Clubhouse statement? “We ask Rahul Gandhi to hold a press conference and to clarify,” he added.

Earlier today, Digvijaya Singh responded to the allegations by tweeting: “Maybe this group of illiterate individuals don’t understand the difference between Shall and Consider.”

The issue of section 370 has been controversial. While the BJP kept its promise in the 2019 poll by revoking its implementation, Congress in its manifesto for the election of Lok Sabha pledged not to change the status in this regard.

The regional parties in the Union territory continue to demand that Article 370 be reapplied and that Jammu and Kashmir regain its statehood. National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah welcomed the statement, saying, “I am very grateful to Digvijaya Singh Ji. He understood the feelings of people and other parties who also spoke about it. ‘warmly welcomes and I hope the government will consider it again “.

Whether or not will this controversy escalate and how will other senior Congress leaders respond to it – remains to be seen.
