2021 Emmy Awards: Olivia Colman Wins First Leading Actress Award for Portraying Queen Elizabeth in ‘The Crown’

2021 Emmy Awards: Olivia Colman victory is a bit upsetting, as common Emmy wisdom favored Colman’s “The Crown” co-star Emma Corrin, or “Pose” Mj Rodriguez, reports variety.com.

Olivia Colman won her first Emmy Award for Leading Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in season 4 of “The Crown.” The actress said she loves every second of it and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Colman’s victory is a bit upsetting, as common Emmy wisdom favored Colman’s “The Crown” co-star Emma Corrin or “Pose” Mj Rodriguez, variety.com reports.

The actress herself expressed surprise when she gave her speech at the London rally for “The Crown”.

“I would have put some money in so that this did not happen,” she said. “I want to say thank you very much for that, it’s amazing.”

Season 4 was Colman’s last turn to play Queen Elizabeth.

Actress Imelda Staunton will succeed him, as Colman did for Claire Foy, who originally took the role.

“I loved every second and can’t wait to see what happens next,” said Colman.

She kept her remarks short but choked on remembering her father.

In tears, she said: “I wish my dad was there to see this. I lost my dad during Covid, and he would have loved it all.”

Colman’s victory added to the dominance of “The Crown” this year, which won 11 awards, including Netflix’s first-ever victory in the drama category.

She won over fellow nominees Corrin (‘The Crown’), Mj Rodriguez (‘Pose’), Elisabeth Moss (‘The Handmaid’s Tale’), Jurnee Smollett (‘Lovecraft Country’) and Uzo Aduba (‘In Treatment’).
