10 Dead In Fire at COVID-19 Hospital in Bhandup Mall

Mumbai: A large fire broke out at the COVID-19 private hospital in the Bandup West area of ​​Mumbai in the early hours of Friday. Ten people have died in a fire at Dube Mall Hospital, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said. About 76 COVID-19 patients were admitted to the hospital, located on the third floor of the mall. About 70 patients were safely rescued and transferred to another hospital.
Mumbai Minister Aslam Shaikh said there was an end to the fire at the hospital and shopping mall, and action would be taken against those found guilty. The BMC has ordered an investigation into the Bandup fire incident.
“Ten people were killed in the blaze. This is a very serious matter. The negligence of hospital management is evident. We will register the case, ”said the Mumbai Police Commissioner.
“A level 3 or level 4 fire broke out on the first floor of the mall at 12.30am. 76 patients with COVID-19 were admitted to the hospital. 22 to 23 fire tenders are available in the area, ”Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prashant Kadam told reporters. Recovery work in progress, he added.
Umbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said, “This is the first time I have seen a hospital in a shopping mall. This is a very bad situation. Seven patients were using respirators. 70 patients were taken to another hospital. There will be an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. ”
