Why is #SayNoToHalal trending on Twitter?

#SayNoToHalal: Indian internet users stepped up their campaign against halal certification on Thursday. They started raising their objections to the certification by including #SayNoToHalal in their tweets.

Halal is a term used to state that the product is permitted in Islam. If a food is labeled as “halal,” it is edible under Islam. Several Islamic countries also import “certified halal” meat.

However, some people in India are against the “halal certificate” and refer to it as “parallel systems in the country”.

Previously, a petition had also been filed calling for a ban on the slaughter of animals using “halal”. It was deposed by Akhand Bharat Morcha.

However, the Supreme Court refused to hear such a plea. The bench said: “The court cannot determine who can be vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Those who want to eat halal meat can eat halal meat. Those who want to eat Jhatka meat can eat Jhatka ”.

Now the Twitterati have started raising objections about “halal”. Most of them are calling for the practice to be banned.

One of them wrote: “Why are we forced to eat halal food without our consent? “.

Another user wrote, “If they can bring their religion into everything then why can’t we If you want to be atheist or secular, then be it both ways Otherwise get lost”.
