Violence in Lakhimpur Kheri: Impossible to find the minister’s son, UP police post a notice outside his residence

New Delhi: Hours after the Supreme Court asked the government of Uttar Pradesh to file a detailed situation report on the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, UP police pasted a notice outside the residence of the Minister of Union Ajay Kumar Mishra asking her son Ashish Mishra to appear before her on Friday in connection with the case.

According to the notice, the son of the Union minister was invited to report to the office of the criminal branch of the reserve police lines, Lakhimpur Kheri, on Friday at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, the UP police have also formed a 9-member oversight committee headed by DIG (headquarters) Upendra Agrawal in the case against the son of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra, Ashish, and others. in connection with the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri.

So far, two defendants Luvkush and Ashish Pandey have been arrested in this case.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court ordered the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, the government led by Yogi Adityanath, to file a situation report by Friday regarding the investigation into the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

The Supreme Court said the situation report should contain details of the accused and should mention whether he has been arrested.

Police Inspector General (IG) Lucknow Range Laxmi Singh said on Thursday that the defendants named in the FIR had been summoned for questioning.

“If they don’t show up, we’ll go to court and go through the legal process. Teams have been set up to arrest and question the accused, ”Singh said.

“Incidents of gunfire or gunshot wounds have not been confirmed. Therefore, we will have to proceed with other evidence that has been provided to us, ”she added, ANI reported.

Luvkush and Ashish Pandey were questioned by police earlier in the day after being arrested in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence in which eight people were killed on October 3 during a farmers’ protest.

The son of the Union minister is also accused in the case. The farmers were reportedly run over by a convoy of vehicles, one of which belonged to Ashish Mishra.
