Tokyo Olympics: Manika Batra makes a big comeback to stun Ukrainian Margaryta Pesotska and Progress To Round 3

On Sunday, India’s star table tennis player Manika Batra staged a remarkable comeback to stun 20th seed Margaryta Pesotska of Ukraine and win the game 4-3 at Tokyo Metropolitan Gym in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020. With this win, the Indian paddler has progressed to round three of the women’s singles event. The entire game stretched for almost an hour.

Batra was under immense pressure after losing the opening game but after that, she made a great comeback and won the next two games to level the score 2-2.

Margaryta won the fifth game to take a 3-2 lead but Manika fought against all odds and made a spectacular comeback in the sixth game to win it 11-4 and make it 3-3.  After this, the match got much more exciting. Manika completely dominated the final game in the decider and ultimately won the match 4-3 to enter the next round.

Meanwhile, World No. 38 G Sathiyan’s Olympic debut has come to an end! Sathiyan had a 3-1 lead against lower-ranked Lam Siu Hang in the match but Siu Hang managed to hold his nerves to make a stunning comeback and defeated Sathiyan 4-3 to make it to the next round.
