Tokyo Olympics: Boxing legend Mary Kom scores the first-round victory over Miguelina

In Round 3, Mary Kom rose to the occasion and she did enough to progress ahead in the boxing event.

Tokyo Olympics: Indian boxer MC Mary Kom defeated Dominican Republic Miguelina Hernandez Garcia in the first round of the women’s flyweight category (48-51 kg) at Kokugikan Arena.

Mary Kom beat Miguelina 4-1 in the 32nd round on Sunday. After the first two rounds, the score was equal to 19-19 and the game turned out to be an exciting affair being balanced.

In the third round, Mary Kom seized the opportunity and she did enough to progress in the boxing event.

On Saturday, 29-year-old Vikas Krishnan lost his 32-game round in the men’s welterweight boxing event here at the current Tokyo Olympics and as a result, he withdrew from the mega event. Japan’s Mensah Okazawa defeated Krishnan 5-0 in the 32nd round here at the Kokugikan arena.
