Punjab Govt Cancels Class 12th Board Exams, Result Based CBSE’s Formula

The government of Punjab on Saturday announced the cancellation of Class 12th Board Exams due to the Covid pandemic. State Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla said the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) would report the results according to the CBSE model.

Singla said up to 308,000 students were enrolled in Class 12 in public, assisted and private schools under the PSEB during the 2020-21 academic session. He added that it was not possible for the board of education to conduct the exams due to the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

He said that according to the formula adopted by the CBSE, the PSEB will also prepare the result according to a 30:30:40 formula based on the student’s performance in grades 10, 11 and 12, respectively.

He said that the PSEB will write the result on the basis of an average theoretical component of 30% of the three best performing subjects on the five main subjects of the 10th class and of 30% of weighting on the basis of the marks obtained by the students. students – boarding, practical exam in class 11 and weighting of 40 percent based on the marks obtained in the pre-boarding exam, practical exam, and internal assessment in class 12.

“In the case of students who changed stream after class 11, the results of these students would be prepared according to the weighting based on the grades obtained in class 10 and the weighting based on the PreBoard + practical exam + internal assessment obtained in 12th grade, ”added the Minister.

The Minister of School Education said details of the execution of the decided parameters would be made public on the PSEB website, along with the school’s login ID. He added that principals would be responsible for uploading grades 10, 11, and 12 grades to the portal and the result should be reported by July 31 at the latest.
