Online Exam Demand: AKTU students continue with agitation

Online Exam Demand: Hundreds of students from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, took to the streets again on Friday to demand online exams following the rise in Omicron cases in the state which prompted the government to impose a night curfew between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. from December 25.

“We are all determined to organize a demonstration against the administration of the university which braves the winter cold in the streets. At a time when the night curfew has been imposed by the Uttar Pradesh government throughout the state, the university wants to hold an exam in which four lakh students must sit to take an offline exam, ”Pawan Bhadana, one of the protesters who is leading the student agitation by organizing roadblocks in Lucknow, was heard in a video.

When contacted, the university administration said it was moving forward with offline exams from December 28. She alleged that Pawan Bhadana graduated from AKTU in 2012. “Pawan is no longer an AKTU student and he is trying unnecessarily to mislead students,” an official noted. The university also shared documents to establish that Bhadana was no longer an AKTU student.

AKTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Vineet Kansal on Wednesday asked affiliated institutes to ensure the smooth running of offline exams from December 28. Affiliate institutes have been tasked with resolving students’ problems early so that there is no disruption in their studies and teaching, ”said Prof Kansal.

The VC also asked establishments to ensure that Covid protocols were followed during examinations. He advised students to keep in touch with the institute to resolve any study-related issues. Additionally, if an issue related to the educational activity is not resolved at the institute level, students can post their issues on the university’s online grievance portal.
