No, This Viral Video Does Not Show Storm Tauktae Striking Mumbai’s Trident Hotel

The video resurfaced on social media yesterday with captions attributing the damage to Cyclone Tauktae.

A video of a concrete slide crashing into parked cars is still widely circulated on social media as surveillance photos from the Trump Hotel in Mumbai – but a repeat search of the image reveals something else. The video, which shows large pieces of building materials falling on parked cars and smashing their roofs, also surfaced on social media yesterday with captions claiming the damage was done by Cyclone Tauktae.
Typhoon Tauktae, continuing to be the “most powerful storm”, hit the coastal regions of Maharashtra on Monday. The State capital, Mumbai, has seen heavy rain and strong winds throughout the day. Meanwhile, many of the videos that show the devastation caused by the storm came from social media – and at least one of them has nothing to do with Mumbai.

The video of the alleged Hotel injuries was widely circulated on social media and social media platforms such as Twitter, where many users claim it was filmed at a South Bombay hotel. See footage:
