Calling for postponement / cancellation of exams due to an increase in Covid-19 cases across the country, the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) said a decision would be made regarding the June 2021 exams that would keep safe and healthy student mental health. The dates for the tests will be announced on May 20, 2021, it said.
This comes a few days after the cancellation of the CBSE board 10 exams and the postponement of the CBSE Grade 12 exams. Many state boards have also been canceled or postponed board exams. NIOS students demand that their exams also be postponed or cancelled, on national and state education board queues.
“In view of the situation created as a result of the covid-19 epidemic across the country and in view of the safety and well-being of students, the NIOS is reviewing the situation in the June 2021 Examination program,” a statement from NIOS said.
NIOS, an independent institution under the Department of Education, has stated that the NIOS board exams will be conducted after the situation is reviewed. He said the decision would be taken by students.
Recently, NIOS has extended the deadline for the inclusion of a pre-merged scholarship fee of Rs. 1500 for high school and high school exams for the June 2021 exams until midnight on April 18.
As the country testifies to more than 2 lakh cases of COVID-19 daily over the past few days, students have been urging authorities to cancel or postpone examinations for the NIOS 2021 board.
Many students also said they did not receive the materials and books and it affected their preparation for the NIOS exam. They also suspect that their studies have been affected by the closure of training classes due to COVID-19 restrictions and locks.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also canceled the Class 10 exams this year. In the CBSE decision lines, many provinces have also postponed or canceled their board exams.
The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has also postponed the ISC board, ICSE board exams this year.
