On Thursday, the majority of social media conversation was about politics. Actor Archana Puran Singh wasn’t typically a topic of discussion on social media, but she trended on Twitter due to the election results.
The reason for the meme fest was that Navjot Singh Sidhu, a politician who Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu had replaced on The Kapil Sharma Show, lost his seat in Punjab Assembly elections.
Sidhu, who is not well-known outside of India, was the permanent guest on Comedy Nights With Kapil and later the Kapil Sharma Show from 2017 to 2018.
After that, Sidhu was replaced by Archana. Kapil Sharma often jokes on the show that Archana ‘stole’ Sidhu’s spot in the show. After Sidhu lost his seat in the Amritsar East Vidhan Sabha, jokes began that he was now ‘unemployed’ and would soon return to ‘steal back’ his seat on Kapil’s show.

Soon, memes began circulating on Twitter and Instagram indicating that Archana should be on alert for a coup from Sidhu.
A Twitter user shared a picture of journalist Ravish Kumar’s body with Archana’s face morphed on it, using the popular meme template ‘Darr ka mahaul hai (There is an environment of fear).’ Another tweet with a Joker-themed meme read, “Archana Puran Singh trying to save her seat after Sidhu election loss.”
