India reports 7,992 new coronavirus cases along with 9,265 recoveries and 393 deaths

New Delhi: India on Saturday 7,992 new cases of coronavirus as well as 9,265 recoveries and 393 deaths in the last 24 hours.The number of active cases currently stands at 93,277 the lowest in 559 days, the Department of Health and Family Welfare has informed.Meanwhile, 131.99 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far.

Active cases represent less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.27%, the lowest since March 2020.

The recovery rate is currently 98.36%, the highest since March 2020. With 9,265 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of people recovered has reached 3,41 14,331.

The daily positivity rate (0.64%) is less than 2% for the last 68 days and the weekly positivity rate (0.71%) less than 1% for the last 27 days.

A total of 65.46 crore has been done so far.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 infections in India from the Omicron variant reached 32 on Friday after seven new infections of the highly mutated coronavirus were detected in Maharashtra and two more in Gujarat.

With that, the tally reached 17 in Maharashtra, followed by nine cases in Rajasthan, three in Gujarat, two in Karnataka and one in Delhi, according to the PTI news agency report. A three-and-a-half-year-old girl from Pune district was among Maharashtra’s seven new cases of Omicron, according to an official statement, in what may be the youngest person in the country infected with the new strain of COVID.
