The Supreme Court on Monday also postponed an application for cancellation of Class 12 exams for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) board which gives the government two days to take the final call.
According to media reports, Advocate General KK Venugopal told the bench with Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari that the government would make a final decision in the next two days whether to hold the Class 12th CBSE and CISCE exams this year amid a covid crisis.
The bench was listening to a petition filed by attorney Mamta Sharma seeking directions to cancel CBSE and CISCE class 12 exams due to the current state of the second covid wave.
“No problem. You make a decision. You have the right to receive it. If you leave last year’s policy, then you have to give good reasons for it, ”the bench told the Attorney General.
The bench began hearing the application on Friday (May 28) and adjourned it on Monday (May 31) asking Sharma to forward a copy of the complaint to the CBSE representatives.
The petition reads, “Due to the health crisis and the increase in COVID-19 cases in the country, testing, offline or online or integrated in the coming weeks is not possible and delays in testing will result in unpaid student losses as time is the basis for academic admission. higher education overseas. ”
Meanwhile, CBSE may make the final decision on the Class 12 board exams on June 1. Also, the CICSE board has asked its parallel schools to submit the average marks obtained by Class 12 students in Class 11 and at this time, there is no clarity so far.
