New Delhi: Mark Zuckerberg made a big announcement on Thursday at this year’s Facebook Connect, saying Facebook Changes Name to Meta.
He said their business wanted to be identified as a metaverse business.
Zuckerberg revealed some important features one can expect in the Metaverse.
The metaverse is considered the next version of the Internet, where people can experience the virtual world and interact with each other.
Zuckerberg said privacy and security must be built into the metaverse from day one. The main characteristics of the metaverse will be a presence, avatars, home space, teleportation, interoperability, privacy and security, virtual goods, and natural interfaces.
The avatars will allow you to float in space. There will be photorealistic avatars, fantastic avatars, and different wardrobes.
He said Horizon Workrooms, Horizon Home and Horizon Worlds will be part of the metaverse and the game will take it to the next level.
Zuckerberg owns meta.com, which redirects to a homepage on Facebook where the changes are described, as well as a Twitter handle, @meta, which is now protected.
He said their goal was always to “Connect People” and that people could have an immersive experience in their home space just by wearing glasses.
The feeling of presence will be a determining quality of the metaverse.
The metaverse allows people to invite other people into the virtual space. Teleporting into the Metaverse is like clicking links on the internet, Zuckerberg said.
Also, people can project themselves as holograms, and you can bring anything into the metaverse.
