Delhi: fire breaks out in Lajpat Nagar market exhibition hall, 30 tenders rushed to extinguish fire

New Delhi: a fire broke out on Saturday morning in an exhibition hall in the central market district of Lajpat Nagar, in south Delhi,

Delhi Fire Department officials said a call about the blaze was received around 10:20 a.m., after which 16 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

The fire took place in a clothing showroom in Lajpat Nagar in Delhi. According to the first entries, the fire started on the ground floor and little by little the flames also engulfed the adjoining shops.

According to the latest information, the fire has been brought under control but it is not completely extinguished even after 4 hours. In total, 3 exhibition halls were engulfed by fire.

The fire was reportedly caused by a short circuit in the clothing showroom.

While 16 tenders had been sent out earlier, the Delhi Fire Department had to send a total of 30 fire trucks to the scene to bring the situation under control.

Reassuring the citizens of Delhi, CM Arvind Kejriwal wrote: “I am constantly monitoring the situation and am in constant contact with the fire brigade”.

Reportedly, no person has been hurt as the markets were shut. No casualties have been reported so far. More information about the same is awaited as the fire tenders continue attempts to douse the blaze.
