CBSE Board Exams Not Cancelled, plea Dismissed

CBSE Term 2 board exam will not be waived! Destroying the hopes of students who wanted an internal assessment, the Supreme Court today dismissed the motion to have the 2022 board exams set aside.

The petition was filed by a child rights activist, asking for an internal assessment to all. The plea, however, was rejected, paving the way for term 2 board exams for CBSE, ICSE as well as the 2022 state board exams.

Rejecting the plea, Judges AM Khanwilkar called the petition ill-advised because it creates “false hope”.

“These petitions create false hope, let the authorities make a decision. You can challenge this order,” noted Judge AM Khanwilkar. The plea was heard by the bench of 3 judges composed of judges AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and CT Ravikumar.

Judge Khanwilkar also called the petition “publicity” and even warned the petitioners in as many words. “There is news everywhere. What kind of petitions are filed and publicity given? This must stop.

This must stop. Don’t come back or there will be exemplary costs. Let the students and the authorities do their job .You can’t PIL like that. Whoever filed, we say for this petitioner,” he said.

The plea to cancel the Council 2022 exams was filed by child rights activist Anubha Shrivastava Sahai. In his plea, Anubha Srivastava asked the court to cancel the upcoming CBSE, CISCE, NIOS and other state exams.

Students from many parts of the country have filed a plea with the Supreme Court asking for board exams to be canceled and for students to be assessed using alternative assessment criteria.

Following this, the case was brought before the Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana and he referred the case to the Bench of Judge Khanwilkar.

Bench-led Judge AM Khanwilkar passed the order to cancel board exams and assess students on alternative assessment criteria in 2021 as well.

Canel Board Exam 2022 has been requested by many students as they cite learning loss due to online courses. Prior to the Supreme Court plea, students were demanding the cancellation or postponement of jury exams on social media.

Many National and State Boards have released the dates for the 2022 Board Examinations. The CBSE has notified to start the second session exams from April 26, the CISCE also said it will start the Board Examinations from April 26.

last April and state councils are also set to begin councils from March-April.

Some state councils including Madhya Pradesh and Bihar have already started their council exams and Maharashtra council exams are expected to start from March 4.
