Assam Board Exam 2021: Panels of Class 10, 12 exams results submitting reports

Two committees set up by the Assam government to propose procedures to evaluate students of Class 10 and 12 in view of cancellation of this year’s state board examinations due to the COVID-19 have submitted their reports, officials said on Friday.

Two committees set up by the Assam government to recommend screening procedures for Grade 10 and 12 students over the cancellation of this year’s state board exams due to COVID-19 have submitted their reports, officials said on Friday.

The panel, which was proposing a formula for the Class 12 student examination, submitted its report to Education Minister Ranoj Pegu during the day, and the Class 10 results committee submitted its recommendations on Thursday, they said.

Pegu is likely to present both reports to Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, officials said.

Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Vice-Chancellor of Ancient Studies University Prof Dipak Kumar Sharma, who chaired the Class 12 results committee, said team members look at all academic activities, and the recommendations are based on ongoing evaluation.

“Class 10 results will be considered. Grades 11 and 12 will continue,” he said after a committee meeting.

He did not disclose the details of the test formula.

Sharma said team members read the procedures adopted by the CBSE and other state boards in preparing the report and also ensured that student interests were protected.

The committee also made recommendations for students who may be dissatisfied with the results, he said, adding that they could contact the Assam Higher Secondary Council (AHSEC).

When announcing the chefs for this year’s exams, Sharma said it was up to the government to decide.

Another committee set up to recommend the Class 10 student assessment process has recommended that Class 9 and student marks be considered in advance, officials said.

Dr. Alok Buragohain, former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and Chair of Education at Royal Global University, chaired the Class 10 results committee.

The two bodies were established on June 19, a day after the Department of Education decided to cancel the Class 10 and 12 board exams because of the current state of COVID-19.

Both committees were given seven days to submit their reports.

The Second Education Board, Assam (SEBA) and AHSEC will finalize the final results on July 30, the announcement said.

SEBA conducts Class 10 exams, while AHSEC hosts Class 12 exams.

The minister of education had said the results of Class 10 and 12 would be announced on July 31.
