AKTU students claim teachers speedup the 6-month program into 5 weeks

Engineering students at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) claim that as soon as the exam schedule is announced, teachers try to complete the six-month program in just five weeks, not giving students time to understand and grasp.

“How can our mind capture anything at this speed. We are unable to comprehend a single chapter. This is not the way to end the course before the final B Tech exam,” said Apurva Verma in a tweet tagging AKTU and Vice Chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak.

Annapurna, another student, said: “How can AKTU pass our exam covering the whole program when the semester length is reduced to only 3 months. In addition, there were 20 days of vacation? during online classes in May. “

“First of all, students find it difficult to adapt to an online learning environment immediately after traditional classroom learning. Due to the sudden change, we are not able to adapt to the Computer-based learning Students who have always studied in class, their minds are not able to focus on online platforms, ”Apurva’s tweet read.

According to one student, many of them do not have the high-speed internet connection necessary for online learning. Because of this, they face problems bringing virtual learning and other platforms that require an internet connection online, they said.

Students claim that even teachers face serious networking issues and that is why they often reschedule classes to suit their convenience. “Not a single student is ready to take the exams because we have all faced so many problems in this pandemic and many of us are under tremendous mental stress,” said one student.

Student Mohsin Afroz said: “We need time to study. Right now in my college, there are almost three credits left in each subject. Thus, for six subjects, there are still 18 units to be taught which must be completed in five weeks. The college is ready with additional lessons but there is some time to study. It is not fair to end the course as a formality. If AKTU is ready to organize exams, they should give the necessary time or relax in the program. “

The AKTU can organize exams relating only to the main subjects and must leave the optional subjects. This way we can get some relaxation. This semester started in April and classes were suspended for almost a month, so we only have 3 months left, “he said.

A student from a private engineering school said: “Most of the students live in villages where engineering books are not available. Poor internet connection is another problem. Students could only attend 50% or less of online courses. but the online courses started from April 12th. With the weekend off and the 20-day closure in May due to Covid-19, we only had 25-30 days of online classes. And I don’t think 25 to 30 days is enough for a whole semester at this level.
