The department has issued guidelines to technical universities to procure the software necessary to conduct exams online through the GeM portal which has been approved by the government, the letter said.

University administrations have also been asked to help students get used to the new software by taking practice exams before the final semester exam. Students can take the exam from their homes or anywhere at their convenience, said Technical Secretary of Education Alok Kumar.

He said that it had been decided to keep only objective type exams and that appearing in exams was in the best interests of students’ careers.

Kumar added, “Today we have discussed with the Director of Technical Education, Joint Directors, and Nodal Principal of all district polytechnics regarding the completion of the program within the next five weeks. Classes will also take place on weekends. If the need arises, additional lessons will be taken in the evening. “

He said showing up on the exam by students is in the best interests of their careers. He said that the students can take the exam at home or anywhere according to their convenience.

The Technical Education Department on Monday sent a letter to the rectors of three technical universities – Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, and MMMUT, Gorakhpur – ordering them to conduct the semester exams. final. in online mode between July 15 to 22 and the exams of the remaining semester between July 23 and 31 as recommended by a committee of five members formed by the department.

The vice-chancellor of AKTU, Prof Vinay Kumar Pathak said, “We are all gearing up for conducting online exams for final year students.” He said, “I am very sure students will prepare well for the exam.”

Meanwhile, even before the exam schedule was announced by the university administration, a large number of students of AKTU jointly raised their voice, on Twitter, demanding the cancellation of examinations and promoting students to the next level. They asserted that appearing in the online test is next to impossible owing to the poor internet connectivity especially in the rural areas.
