A four floors residential building has collapsed in Delhi’s Malkaganj.

New Delhi: A residential building collapsed in the Malkaganj area of ​​Delhi on Monday afternoon. Rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene and one person has been rescued so far. According to the latest updates, there were many families inside the building, including children, when the building collapsed.

The number of people trapped under the debris remains to be determined. Several auto rickshaws were parked next to buildings that were damaged after the collapse.

According to ANI, the residential building had four floors and the incident happened around noon.

NS Bundela, Joint CP, Central Range, Delhi arrived on site to take stock of the situation. He said that local police teams, MCD, NDRF among others are present to undertake a rescue operation.

He said: “We need time to assess the number of people trapped under the debris. One person has been saved so far. He was injured in the head and was sent to the hospital.”

The Delhi Fire Department received a call regarding the incident at 11:50 a.m., said Atul Garg, director of DFS.

A total of seven firefighters were dispatched to the site, he added.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he was monitoring the situation closely.

“The incident of a building collapse in the Sabzi Mandi area is very sad. The administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations. Through the district administration, I am monitoring the situation myself, ”he tweeted in Hindi.
