New Delhi: The ICC has announced hosts for the T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy and World Cup between 2024 and 2031. According to the big announcement, India has been chosen to host three major tournaments. India will host the T20 World Cup in 2026 with Sri Lanka. Additionally, in 2029 India will host the Champions Trophy and in 2031 India and Bangladesh will co-host the World Cup together.
ICC said 14 different nations will host its tournaments in the years to come. The Champions Trophy, last contested in 2017, is also making a surprising comeback. ICC has decided that the highly regarded tournament will be hosted by Pakistan (year 2025) and India (year 2029) in the near future.
The ICC will host one major tournament each year from 2024 to 2031. In accordance with ICC’s plan, an ICC major tournament will be held for the first time in America. The 2024 T20 World Cup will take place in America. With America, the West Indies will also co-organize the flagship event.
In what might be shocking to many, ICC has given Pakistan the rights to host the 2025 Champions Trophy. After almost 29 years, an ICC event will be hosted by Pakistan on its home soil. The last time Pakistan hosted a major ICC tournament was the 1996 World Cup, co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Rameez Raja expressed his satisfaction at the big decision of the ICC.
