Tokyo Olympics | BYJU announces Rs 2 crore for Neeraj Chopra, Rs 1 crore each to other award recipients

BYJU’S head Edtech on Sunday announced a $ 2 million prize for Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra following his gold medal of winning the Tokyo Olympics.

Starting with the announcement of Rs 1 crore for each of the six medalists, who have brought benefits to the country at the Games.
“To make further strides in promoting athletes in all sports fields, the company has announced Rs 2 crores for Neeraj Chopra and Rs 1 crore each for Mirabai Chanu, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Lovlina Borgohain, PV Sindhu and Bajrang Punia,” the report said.

Chopra on Saturday knocked out an 87.58m final at the Tokyo Games to claim the country’s first medal and became the second Indian to win one gold at the Olympics.

His victory also took the Indian medal in Tokyo to seven, making it the most prestigious Games in the country.
“Sport has an important role to play in nation building and it is time for us to celebrate our Olympic heroes, not just once in 4 years, but every day,” said Byju Raveendran, Founder and CEO.
