DBSE obtains approval for exams, certification and equivalence: Sisodia

The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) has received approval from apex bodies for examination, certification and equivalence with other recognised boards, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced on Friday.

The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) has received approval from the highest bodies for examination, certification and equivalence with other recognized boards, Chief Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia said on Friday.

The move will allow students from DBSE-affiliated schools to be admitted to other boards and its certificate will be valid for admission to higher education institutions.

“Collaboration with the International Baccalaureate opens up world-class opportunities for our children. With COBSE and AIU approvals, the DBSE is poised to transform assessment of learning,” said Sisodia.

“On the granting of COBSE membership to the Delhi Board of Education, the secondary and upper secondary examinations conducted and certificates issued by it would be equivalent to the corresponding certificates of other member boards. of COBSE, ”reads the letter from the Board of Directors. School Education in India (COBSE) which is responsible for verifying the authenticity / recognition of school boards in India.

Previously, the Board of Directors of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), an inter-university organization that acts as the representative of universities in India, approved DBSE’s proposal and decided to “give equivalence to the Delhi Board of School Education, Delhi, with CBSE and other recognized Boards of India “.

Once these approvals are in place, students graduating from DBSE schools will enjoy universal recognition and acceptance, much like certificates issued by the CBSE and other recognized boards. Grade sheets and certificates issued by DBSE will be accepted by all recognized Indian Boards and Universities.

Earlier this year, the Delhi government approved the formation of the DBSE to move away from an exam system based on rote learning at the end of the year and instead create a framework of continuous evaluation.

For the current academic year, 30 schools are affiliated with the DBSE. In the coming years, all public schools in Delhi will be affiliated with the DBSE which started to operate in partnership with the International Baccalaureate (IB).

In addition, recognized private schools in the city will also have the opportunity to affiliate with DBSE.

Recently, the Delhi government signed a collaboration agreement with the International Baccalaureate (IB), an internationally recognized council with its presence in 5,500 schools in 159 countries.

“The collaboration will help DBSE bring international best practices to Delhi schools and deliver a world-class capacity building program to its teachers,” Sisodia said.

The Delhi government has also launched 20 Specialized Excellence Schools (SoSEs) which aim to provide specialized education to students in the areas of their deep interest and abilities.

All SoSEs are also affiliated with DBSE. Therefore, students leaving these schools will be treated on an equal basis with students leaving another recognized school board.
