In the seventh match of the ongoing IPL 2022 season, the Lucknow Super Giants produced one of the most impressive chases against the Chennai Super Kings at the Brabourne stadium. The KL Rahul-led side chased down a massive target of 211 with three balls remaining and six wickets in hand, earning their first win of the tournament. As a result of their victory, they have gained two crucial points and moved up to sixth place in the points table.

The Lucknow Super Giants were desperate to get off to a good start after losing their first game of the tournament to the Gujarat Titans, and they did so in style. The emotions were visible, as their coach, Gautam Gambhir, was animated from the dugout. Because of their magnificent victory, the entire team gathered in the locker room and began singing Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline song with notes on their hands to ensure they did not forget the moment they won.

The CSK side was on track to post a massive total on the back of Robin Uthappa’s half-century and contributions from Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, and the middle order, while Ravi Bishnoi was the only bowler who came good for LSG with two for 24 in his four overs on a relatively batting friendly track.
In response, Quinton de Kock and Rahul Dravid put on 99 for the first wicket and were quickly up to the required run rate. However, with Evin Lewis and Deepak Hooda at the crease, they needed more than 14 runs per over in the final five overs. Lewis was in devastating form, hitting three sixes and six fours in his unbeaten 23-ball 55, and Ayush Badoni provided the finishing touch with a 9-ball 19 to complete the chase, which appeared to be a chore with 34 needed off the final two overs.
