Coach Ravi Shastri said his boys deserved to be the first part of the Tests in the world after overcoming all obstacles in the run-up to the World Test Championship finals. The 58-year-old was named the head coach of the Indian team by BCCI in 2017. After the 2019 ICC World Cup, Shastri received an extension.
“The team has shown resilience and consistency by sticking to the No. 1 crown. It’s something the boys have achieved in terms of equality and square footage. The rules have changed in the middle but #TeamIndia has overcome all obstacles along the way. “said Shastri.
Team India (2914 rating points from 24 matches) secured a spot in the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand (2166 points from 18 Tests) after winning the four-match Test series 3–1 against England at home. At the same time, Virat & Co. won the four-match Test series 2-1 against Australia.
