Signal and WhatsApp have a missing message feature, but no one can notify users when taking a screenshot

The signal has announced updates to its disappearing messaging feature of WhatsApp. The messaging app has added a new feature that will allow users to set the duration of all their missing messages.

Interestingly, this feature was announced days after WhatsApp made its View Once feature official.

However, Signal had disappearance messages that appeared before WhatsApp. Signal had released the disappearance messages back in 2016.

The signal has only improved the missing message feature now by providing customization options to users.

Until now, Signal users have had to personally prepare messages that automatically disappear from all individual conversations and group conversations.

But now users can now configure all conversations including group, each conversation with a default timer.

Signal also adds the ability to set the duration of time in your conversations.

Using this, you can choose whether you want the content to be away for 60 seconds or you want to stay for 18 minutes or 4 weeks.

Announcing the feature, Signal said on the blog, “The disappearance of messages provides a way to keep your message history clean.

If enabled in chat, messages will be deleted from the sender and recipients after the allotted time. ”The messaging app has said it is a great way to save storage space on your devices. It is also good to limit the amount of chat history that resides on your device.

Now for users, working on WhatsApp, this feature is completely unheard of. The feature is the same in messaging apps and the disappearing message icon looks the same.

Signal has now provided more controls to WhatsApp users who currently have it.

Signal and WhatsApp have a missing message feature

The signal on its blog had warned users about sharing live and disappearing media.

“This is not the case where a contact is your enemy – after all, if the person receiving the missing message wants their record, they can always use another camera to take a screenshot before the message disappears,” the company said.

But Signal, like WhatsApp does not have a screenshot acquisition feature. That is, it will notify users when a screenshot is viewed when the media has been captured.

Signal, which is considered safer than WhatsApp in terms of privacy, also did not disclose anything that could notify the sender about the screenshots taken.

WhatsApp has also asked its users to send views when the media to trusted contacts only because the feature can be used using many methods.

The messaging app, however, did not remove any other features or tools to stop users from abusing the view when it became a media feature.
