Fifteen Indian universities have reached the academic level of the Universities of the World (ARWU) 2020, also known as Shanghai Ranking. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore is on the list of 501-600 brokers worldwide while at the top of the list of Indian universities.
Also, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has secured a place in India’s top 10 universities for the first time. It is ranked 8th and placed in 801-900 brackets worldwide. Harvard University has led the world rankings. AMU Vice-Chancellor Tariq Mansoor shared the news on his social media account and called it ‘evidence of their progress’.
Apart from IISC, Bangalore and AMU, other Indian institutions listed are Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), University of Calcutta, University of Delhi, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, I -All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Anna University, Bharathiar University, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee and Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs).
