Rajkummar Rao began his career with Dibakar Banerjee’s Love Sex Aur Dhokha 10 years ago and soon gained fame for his role in films such as Kai Po Che !, Aligarh and Newton.

Rajkummar Rao will appear to the director of Harshvardhan Kulkarni Badhaai Do.
Looking back on his ten-year career, Shah and Stree star Rajkummar Rao says his trip to Bollywood has been surreal and rewarding but not without its challenges. The actor said the faith of his late mother has kept him going even in the days when he was empty when he moved to Mumbai from Gurgaon chasing his childhood dream.

Rao began his career with Dibakar Banerjee’s Love Sex Aur Dhokha 10 years ago and soon gained fame for his starring in films such as Kai Po Che !, Aligarh and Newton.

In an interview with PTI, the award-winning actor talked about completing ten successful years in the film industry. “The first two years when I was looking for a job were very difficult. There were days when there was no money to buy food. But my mother gave me that confidence and she had an unshakable confidence in me. I would come home and send money to get food on my table, ”the actor told PTI.

“I never thought of giving up, going back and doing something else. I never came up with a B plan. This is what I have wanted to do since I was a child. Items started to move ‘LSD’ posts and from then on the trip was fine. Looking back, it sounds surreal. I didn’t expect this to happen, to make all these beautiful films and roles. I did not come to this city to pursue fame or fortune. I’m in the movies because I love them so much, ”he added.

It is not that when his success began, there was no turning back. After a series of hits, from the 2017 comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi, a black comedy drama that won the National Award to the 2018 comedy show, Rao saw the failure of his big release of the 2019 Diwali in China.

Rao said despite the film’s failure, he is proud of the project as he sees the failure as temporary. “I am proud of the film. There are those movies and I think I could have avoided them, but that’s okay. What I’ve seen is that you can’t be down. The key is to move on to the next step. ”

Next, Rao will appear to Harshvardhan Kulkarni’s director Badhaai Do, with whom he also plays Bhumi Pednekar. Supported by Junglee Pictures, the film is the culmination of the 2018 National Award-winning game Badhaai Ho !. The actor, who plays a police officer in the film, said the movie was “not exactly the sequence”.

Badhaai Do continues the spirit of the first film about a middle-aged couple facing an unexpected pregnancy and aims to deliver a timely message in an attractive way.

“A different world with new characters but our producers are the same. I am extremely happy with the way it is designed. Harshwardhan is the director he should look after. Bhumi and I had such a wonderful time making a film with him. The audience will see me in a new light on this one. What we are trying to say about the film is important but we say it in a fun way. It’s the kind of movie you can laugh at and still get home, ”he added.
