Punjab govt. closes schools and colleges till April 10 to tackle Covid-19 issues

The Punjab government on Tuesday extended restrictions on dealing with coronavirus by keeping schools and colleges closed for another ten days. Punjab Prime Minister Amarinder Singh has also ordered him to intensify his campaign for coronavirus testing and vaccination with officials telling him that a daily drop in cases is only expected by mid-May.

On March 19, the government ordered the closure of educational institutions without restricting recruitment at cinemas, supermarkets, and public events for a month.

Punjab Prime Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday issued a directive that all existing restrictions until March 31, will now remain in effect until April 10, according to a statement. Earlier, the state government ordered that no more than 100 people be allowed in supermarkets at any time while cinemas were told to keep the numbers at 50 percent of their total capacity.
In the 11 worst-hit states, all social gatherings, except for funerals and weddings, were strictly forbidden, with only 20 people allowed. CM on Tuesday instructed the Department of Health to increase the number of immunization sites to address priority sectors.
