Postpone NEET PG 2023: Why are aspirants demanding for delay in medical entrance exam?

On the one hand, the NEET PG 2023 exam is set for March 5, while candidates are still waiting for the Supreme Court to hear their NEET PG 2023 postponement petition. FAIMA, the medical association, and the ABVP, the student union, have previously given alternative suggestions to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, requesting a postponement of the medical entrance exam and an extension of the deadline for internship for MBBS students.

Still, the ministry agreed to extend the internship deadline to August 11. The request to postpone the exam for two to three months was denied.

A plea was subsequently filed at the Telangana High Court demanding a postponement of the exam, and an online petition was also launched by students, with over 75,000 signatures. The Telangana High Court denied the petition, stating that postponing the NEET PG 2023 exam would have an impact on the next batch.

According to hopefuls, the time between the NEET PG exam and the counselling is two to three months, which means that applicants must wait the full time between the exam and the counselling.

As a result, the students and doctor’s body are demanding that the exam be postponed so that the applicants do not have to sit ideally after the exam. According to the candidates, postponing the exam would provide them with more time to prepare for the medical entrance exam, and a few months’ time would be beneficial to them.

For the time being, lakhs of aspirants are awaiting the Supreme Court hearing on the NEET PG 2023 postponement petition. The hearing will be held on Friday (February 24).
