Pakistan outraged by group’s ‘daring’ photoshoot near Quaid-E-Azam monument as Images goes viral

The mystical Shayari band, which shot the photos of two members at the Quaid-e-Azam monument in Islamabad, quit Instagram after the images created a storm in Pakistan. Authorities are looking for the two.

Images of a group, circulating on social media, sent Pakistan’s Twitter worm into a frenzy. The images, which have become the talk of the town, come from a photoshoot where two young members of the group – a man and a woman – can be seen wearing clothes considered “obscene and offensive.”

After Mystical Shayari, the group in question posted their bold images on social handles taken near the Quaid-e-Azam monument in Islamabad, it sparked an uproar in various segments of Pakistani society. Some comments came for the location of the shot while others were subject to the choice of clothing used during the photo shoot. As many have complained via Twitter, a case has also been filed against them.

“Who gave them permission,” one Twitter user asked, while someone objected to the location choice.

Journalist Ansar Abbasi took to Twitter tagging officials concerned and asking for the band members’ arrest for “spreading obscenity”. The Office of Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, then urged people to inform authorities about the duo.

Based on a citizen complaint, law enforcement filed a complaint at Coral Police Station against the gang members. The complaint alleged that members of the group took photos with revealing clothing and themselves went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, after widespread moral policing and posts disapproving of the photos, Mystical Shayari left Instagram and deleted her account. In their latest social post, the group blamed an individual for launching a hate campaign against them. The post criticized the individual’s social media account for “recklessly amplifying” the “Twitter hate storm” against them.

“Since then, we have been subjected to a relentless barrage of hate messages, threats, and rampant transphobic ridiculousness,” read their latest post.
