‘No idea what’s going on that front’: Virat Kohli on Rahul Dravid likely appointment as head coach

Speaking to the press on the eve of the 2021 ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, Virat Kohli said he has no idea what is going on with the appointment of the team’s head coach Indian cricket.

There were reports on Saturday claiming that Rahul Dravid’s name was finalized after a key meeting with Secretary Jay Shah and President Sourav Ganguly in Dubai following the IPL final.

Speaking to reporters in the United Arab Emirates, Kohli said: “No idea what exactly is happening on this front. No detailed discussions with anyone yet.”

While there is a buzz surrounding the arrival of Rahul Dravid in the Indian team, the reaction of Virat Kohli has been rather cold. Maybe the Indian captain is trying not to give out information before it is made official.

Kohli and Dravid played together on IPL’s Royal Challengers Bangalore team.

As previously reported, Rahul Dravid’s coaching position with the Indian squad can start with the series against New Zealand from November 17th. It has also been reported that Paras Mhambrey, Dravid’s trusted partner, could be India’s bowling coach. There has been no decision on India’s defensive coach.

Dravid has been associated with India a few times. He was present as a batting consultant in the 2014 Test of England series, while in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka he was part of the squad as head coach.
