NEET 2021 postponed? What NTA says
NEET 2021 has not yet been postponed. In addition, if the reports are to be believed, there is virtually no possibility that the date of the review will be postponed. Sources close to the NTA said the agency was not considering any change in the date of the review.

NTA officials have also reportedly advised students to focus on their preparation. Regarding reports of a conflict with other reviews – the fundamental reason for the postponement request, NTA Director General Vineet Joshi confirmed that there was no conflict.

The NTA and the Ministry of Education further clarified that a delay in the exam was not possible as it would delay the admissions process for another two months. In addition, logistical concerns cannot be ignored.

Argument against NEET before the Supreme Court
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of India would hear the plea regarding the NEET and CBSE exams today. The complainants requested that the exam be postponed as the CBSE board exams and other entrance exams are ongoing. The plea was presented on September 3, 2021 and has been adjourned until today – September 6, 2021.

The plea would be heard by three bench judges headed by Judge A. M. Khanwilkar as well as Judge Hrishikesh Roy and Judge C.T. Ravikumar. On September 3, the NTA clarified to the judiciary that students would be allowed to sit for the exam, regardless of whether the CBSE results would not be reported by then. Noting the same, the judiciary stressed that the relief requested was not necessary. The case has been scheduled for today’s hearing.

Legal experts have commented that based on the merits of the case and the situation, NEET 2021 is unlikely to be postponed. Meanwhile, the NTA would publish the NEET UG admission card on September 9, 2021 on neet.nta.nic.in. Updates from the SC hearing, once completed, would be posted here.
