National Doctor’s Day: How many doctors are there ?

National- New Delhi: Today is National Physician Day. Doctors have played a very important role in the fight against the corona epidemic. Many doctors have also lost their lives in the service of the population. This year, the theme for National Physicians’ Day has been linked to the Corona Virus – Building a Fairer, Healthier World. But the number of doctors in the country is not enough to maintain our health. A doctor is present here to serve 1348 people. While according to WHO guidelines there should be one doctor for every thousand people.

Current status of physicians in the
country At present there are 12 lakh 89,000 registered doctors in the country. The number of physicians engaged in the profession is 10 lakh 31,000, or only 80 percent of the total registered physicians. There is still a shortage of three lakh 60 thousand doctors in the country. So far, 798 doctors have lost their lives in the second wave of Corona. While last year, 734 doctors died from the corona. Currently, 1.28% of GDP is spent on the health sector, while 2.50% of GDP has to be spent.

The medical community has played an important role in the fight against the Kovid-19 epidemic and even then, doctors are committed to serving the country without worrying about their lives. The Prime Minister has often praised doctors and others working on the front lines for this in his speeches. National Physician Day is celebrated across the country on July 1 of each year. Today is the anniversary and anniversary of the death of the country’s great physician and the Second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. This day is celebrated in his memory.
