Munmun Dutta: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress Munmun Dutta has now reacted to her arrest and also clarified her stance on the whole fiasco.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Munmun Dutta has clarified the rumors of his arrest, after speculation began. Last year a case was filed against her in the Hansi city of Haryana for making a caste remark in a YouTube video. She had previously apologized in a public statement.

Clarifying further on this, “Contrary to rumors that I was ‘arrested’, I would like to clarify that I underwent regular questioning with police officials. I have not been arrested. In fact, I had already received the provisional bail from the court on Friday before going to the interrogation.

Officials from the Hansi Police Station talked to me for two and a half hours about the case and wrote down all the important details. They were extremely polite and well mannered. I cooperated with the police and will continue to do so.

For the uninitiated, in January last year, Munmun unwittingly made indecent and derogatory remarks against the Scheduled Caste community in a YouTube video for which she was criticized by netizens for months. .

Later, a case was filed under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Munmun.

The actress, in her infamous video, said, “I come on youtube, and I want to look good, I don’t want to look like a bhangi.” As soon as this video was uploaded, #ArrestMunmunDutta started trending and several petitions were filed to have it stopped.

She did, however, later post a lengthy apology for her comment. “This refers to a video I posted yesterday in which a word I used was misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent to insult, intimidate, humiliate or to hurt anyone’s feelings. Because of my language barrier, I was truly misinformed about the meaning of the word.

Once I was made aware of its meaning, I immediately withdrew the part. I have the utmost respect for every person of every caste, creed or gender and acknowledge their immense contribution to our society or our nation.

I would like to sincerely apologize to anyone who has been unintentionally hurt by the use of the word and I sincerely regret this,” read his statement.

Munmun’s apology was countered by Rajat Kalsan, head of the National Dalit Human Rights Alliance, who had filed an FIR against the actress.
