JEE Advanced 2021: Manual issued, evaluation and acceptance rules

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur has released the information brochure for JEE-Advanced 2021.

As long as engineering enthusiasts are waiting for clarification on the pending rounds of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur released the JEE-Advanced 2021 information booklet this week. While most rules remain the same, the planning center has implemented certain eligibility and entry rules that keep the epidemic in mind.

First, students who canceled JEE Mains in 2020 and were unable to appear in the JEE-Advance papers last year due to problems with Covid, will be allowed to register for the JEE-Advanced 2021 exam directly. “This is a one-time limit allowed in JEE-Advanced 2021 only. These candidates will be considered in addition to not being part of the JEE-Mains 2021 candidates’ qualification from JEE-Adv 2021, ”said the brochure.

So far, anyone wishing to score had to score 75% or more in the 12th board examination to qualify for the JEE-Advanced but this year, this approach has been used in view of the fact that all school boards in the country have passed the 12th grade exams. this year. “Students were required to appear and pass their Grade 12 exams and were to be among the 2.5 lakh students who passed all categories in all categories at JEE-Mains 2021,” the pamphlet emphasizes.

Another change was introduced in the women’s share of seats in IITs this year. Unlike the previous three years when the same quota for over-the-counter seats was allocated to candidates for all IITs, in 2021-22, this rate will vary from one institution to another. “The maximum number of seats in the various programs will be determined by each IIT to ensure that all institutions have at least 20% of women enrolled in the student degree programs.”

In 2017, the enrollment of girls in B Tech programs in IIT was only 9.3%. In 2018, the IIT accreditation council decided to introduce more seats, which means new seats are made up of existing seats, for female students with an increase of 800 seats (14%) in all 23 IITs in 2018 while the number stands of 946 (17%) female seats only in IITs by 2019 and at least 20% of undergraduate class by 2020.

“This particular change in admission rules has been introduced considering that several IITs have already managed to exceed the 20% allocation. So this year, IITs have been able to accommodate 20% or more of female students in certain programs that may reduce the availability of these courses and those where, while still required to meet the criteria, the over-the-counter food intake could increase by private institutions, ”said a senior Indian professor. Kanpur Institute of Technology.

As JEE-Mains’ dates are yet to be released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), no information about the JEE-Advanced 2021 program has been disclosed in this brochure. “Examination dates will be announced soon,” says the information brochure.
