IPL 2022 Schedule- BCCI on Sunday released the full schedule for the Tata IPL 2022 which is set to kick off on March 26 at Wankhede Stadium, with the opening set to feature a blockbuster encounter between last season’s finalists Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. The 2022 IPL schedule will feature a total of 70 league matches and four knockout matches over a span of 65 days.
The schedule features 12 double-headers, with match one set to start live at 3:30pm IST and match two set to start live at 7:30pm IST. With the addition of two new teams to IPL 2022, this season’s tournament promises to be the most entertaining ever. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening game of the 15th Indian Premier League (IPL) at Wankhede Stadium here on March 26.
BCCI announced the schedule for the cash-rich league on Sunday, which will take place at four venues: Wankhede Stadium and Cricket Club of India in Mumbai, DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
A total of 70 league matches and four knockout matches will be played over the span of 65 days, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a press release.
There will be 12 doubles matches in the tournament and on those days the first match will be played at 3:30 p.m. and the evening matches will be played at 7:30 p.m.
The first double-header will be played on March 27 with a one-day game at Brabourne Stadium (CCI) where the Delhi Capitals will face the five-time champions Mumbai Indians. Later, DY Patil Stadium will host the clash between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore in a night match.
The first game in Pune will be played on March 29 when Sunrisers Hyderabad face Rajasthan Royals.
It has already been announced by the BCCI that in all, 20 matches each will be held at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium while 15 matches each will be played at Brabourne Stadium and Pune.
The final league match will also be played at Wankhede Stadium here on May 22 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings.
New teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants play their first game, against each other, at Wankhede on March 28.
The BCCI indicated that the calendar of the play-offs and the final which will be played on May 29 will be announced later.
