Former-keeper-batsman Parthiv Patel is of the opinion that MS Dhoni intends to put the ball to Chennai Super Kings’ in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2021 after failing to qualify for the playoffs for the 13th season – the richest in the T20 league.
Significantly, CSK has begun training for the upcoming IPL 2021 season, starting on April 9. Captain Dhoni and the rest of the team have been training at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
“You see, obviously they should be a little disappointed that they have to leave Chennai because they already have Moen Ali in their team, and K Gowtham in their team. Last year, the disadvantage of CSK was that they didn’t get enough runs on the board. Ruturaj Gaikwad,” Parthiv Patel told Star Sports Cricket Connected.
“And now that Suresh Raina is coming to the team. I think he holds the key to the CSK player list and we have seen what he has done throughout the IPL years. Since returning with Ruturaj Gaikwad he is doing well in home cricket and MS Dhoni, they are good players and you can’t count for long,” Parthiv continued.
“He was (MS Dhoni) an indifferent season last year but as we have seen how enthusiastic he has been (you have spoken to him a few times) and he is very determined to start with CSK football,” added Parthiv.
CSK has won the IPL three times and is considered one of the most successful franchises in T20 history.
“These are good teams and they know that if they win the first or second game – they can start to believe again. Therefore, it will not take long for CSK to start the tournament in a good way,” said Parthiv.
IPL 2021 will start on April 9 and the final will be played on May 30. CSK will play Delhi Capitals led by Shreyas Iyer in their first match on April 10 in Mumbai.
