India witnesses a decline in Covid cases with 34,973 new infections reported and 260 deaths

New Delhi: India reported 34,973 new cases of COVID-19, 37,681 recoveries, and 260 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to data from the Union Ministry of Health on Friday.

The number of active cases in India stands at 390,646, active cases represent 1.18% of total cases. The recovery rate is currently at 97.49%, the weekly positivity rate (2.31%) has been below 3% for the past 77 days.

Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate (1.96%) has been below 3% for the past 11 days. 53.86 cr tests in total have been performed so far.

72.37 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive, the health ministry release informed.

Coronavirus in the States

The health ministry said on Thursday that 68.59% of last week’s total cases were recorded in Kerala.

Kerala reported 26,200 new coronavirus cases and 125 deaths on Thursday, bringing the total number of infections in the state to 43,09,694 and the death toll so far to 22,126, the government said of State.

The test positivity rate (TPR) was recorded at 16.69% after testing 1,56,957 samples in the last 24 hours and with that, 3.29 crore of samples have been tested so far, according to a statement from the state government.

The bulletin also said that since Wednesday, 29,209 people have recovered from the infection, bringing the total number to 40 50,665 and the number of active cases to 2,36,345.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 4,219 new coronavirus infections and 55 deaths on Thursday. It brought the number of infections in the state to 64,870,025 and the death toll to 1,38,017, the state health department informed.

The total number of cases was reduced by 15,066 after the removal of duplicates, while the number of people released was also reduced by 15,793 after the figures were reconciled, according to an official statement.

With 2,538 patients discharged from hospitals during the day, the total recoveries rose to 62 95 236.

The cure rate of cases in Maharashtra is 97.04% while the death rate is 2.12%.

In contrast, no deaths linked to COVID-19 were recorded in Delhi on Thursday, while 35 new cases were reported with a positivity rate of 0.05%, according to data shared by the city’s health department.

Only one death from COVID was reported this month, September 7, according to official figures.

Data shows that no deaths were recorded on July 18, July 24, July 29, August 2, August 4, August 8, August 11-13, August 16, August 20, August 21-24, and August 26-29 August.

The number of active cases increased slightly to 415 Thursday from 414 the day before, according to the bulletin.
