Income tax officers reach Sonu Sood’s Mumbai home a day after raids on his offices

Earlier on Wednesday, raids at Sonu Sood’s offices in Mumbai ended late at night. Income Tax officers spent several hours searching six locations linked to the actor.

Income tax officials arrived at the home of actor-philanthropist Sonu Sood in Mumbai this morning, after the team raided its several offices until late last night. IT managers are investigating Sonu Sood’s real estate deal with a Lucknow-based real estate company.

Earlier, raids on Sonu Sood’s Mumbai offices ended late last night. Income tax officials spent several hours researching six locations related to the actor.

According to sources, a recent deal between Sonu Sood’s company and a Lucknow-based real estate company is under the scanner and the investigation operation has been launched into the tax evasion allegations on this deal.

The raids come days after the actor’s recent high-profile meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who declared him a brand ambassador for a “Desh ka Mentors” program for schoolchildren.

Sonu Sood, 48, was hailed as a real-life hero and received a special humanitarian action award from the United Nations Development Program for helping people during the coronavirus pandemic. Starting by providing buses to migrant workers in 2020, the Bollywood actor ensured the supply of oxygen during the peak of the second wave of the pandemic.
